got the 8020's matched with a sub at one of my uni's studio, and yes, theyre great for recording bands, but not so much for rave music. even with the sub, the low end isnt that defined imo. (but we have Dynaudio BM6 on the upstairs studio, so no problem!) got a pair of Alesis M1 mk2 at home, and theyre areet for £200..but these new mackies man...(drool..!) people are slating them high and low, but i dont care! they just look gorgeous. yes, another victim of marketing! guilty as charged.!

i have the A7's and i fuckin love them had them nearly a yr now the detail in the mids and hi end is great lacks a bit of bottom end tho, but thats not really an issue in my eyes if you have that much clarity in the rest of spectrum...oh and the stereo image is HUGE

as far as i know, these were to replace the discontinued NS10s. these speakers are more of a "consumer proxy", they lack significant bottom end so that you can focus on getting the mids right. the NS10s were pretty famous in their day...if you could make a mix sound good on the NS10s, it would sound good on anything. so as a second reference, i'd say maybe, but as main reference i'd say uh-uh.

i have KRK's and for the price they work. mids can get muddy at times. but the low end is tight. been lookin into a pair of second hand mackie hr624 for main referance. and use the KRK's for teh turntables.

i just bought the adam p-11 after being in a dilema between these and the genelec 8020a's for a long time.both sound realy good . i found the genelec sound abit more precise and clear at the top and the adam's even though they sounded to me a bit less "flat" and precise they also sounded warmer and decided that after working with small monitors for a long time i want to have somthing i can work with for hours without tiring my ears, plus im having much more fun with the extra warmth at the mid-low range.i found it more vital for me then having that extra preciseness of the genelec.i also heard the a-7's and my friend bought them at the same time i bought mine.they are realy good for their price.lows are pretty tight and you have a seperate volume control for the tweeter which makes it easier to modify it to your needs....p-11's sound just sweet

i am also using an adam p11 and i am in total love with those monitors. i think the p11 is a multitalent for electronic music... specially for technoid dnb. but as to every monitor... you really have to get used to it and that takes a long time........................................... p11 cheers
