this is where the magic happens Bad Teeth

im looking to change most of the gear soon. first teh axiom is going, and replaced by a novation zero SL, and a xiosynth 25. i like the axiom, especially its weighted keys,  but i realised that i dont need all 4 octaves, plus the endless rotarys are cool for fine adjustements, but a nightmare for quick ones.
also im getting an alpha track, so i can get a nice feel of volume faders, and its transport functions are amazing too.

Raiden, is teh liquid mix any good then ? ive been reading on it, and im getting mixed responces..

Yep, all unplugged in my hallway, and I'm feeling guilty Cry

I bought a Novation SL25 and hated it. It looks good but half the functions didn't work like automaping and you need to punch harder than Kimbo for the pads to respond. The layout is also confusing in practice. I went for a CME bitstream in the end, and I really like it, mostly coz it doubles up as my mixer for live shows and has a traditional layout.

I took the SL25 back to the shop and and traded it for a liquid mix and I haven't looked back. It gives your mix that character you don't get with plugins and dare I say it, very analogue sounding. Its quite confusing what emulation to use to begin with, so it takes time to work out what one to use. You can really hear the difference between the different emulations and is definitely more than your usual plug in and the desktop unit is great. It sounds amazing and theres plenty of options to get the sound you want.

ye, ive heard that the automap is whack, but it does have 16 dials of both kinds, which is naisse, and i reckon if i go to the trouble of making a few templates i might get some good use out of it. not too bothered about the triggers either, im eyeing a Korg micropad for this.
ah man, another one hating the SL, im getting very sceptical about it now..
apart from the drawbacks you mentioned, how did the rest of the controls felt like ?

The build quality is top notch. It certainly looks like an exciting controller but its just confused and impractical, its like the controller is in 2 halves. I spent 3 weeks building templates etc and just couldn't convince myself to keep it. If its rotaries your after I would steer well clear as theres not nearly enough, the faders are rubbish too (too small).
