to be honest with EQs anything that does the job well enough. For general EQing i tend to just use the stock ones in ableton... its the same with logic, although I really like the Fat EQ it comes with. also dont forget sometimes a filter can be used to do the job, and you can never go far wrong with waves plugins
Distortions is a bigger issue, as there are so many out there and they all have different characteristics. Personally I like the Audio Damage Destrukto for extreme distortion, more general the saturator in live is pretty good, and the stock distortion in logic is really good. The Zap Filter gives some good filter/distortion effects. The ohmforce predatohm is another good one.

What I really recommend though is to try and get some outboard processing and get some analogue sound going. If you can lay your hands on some stuff like moog, mesaboogie, TLAudio i recommend just experiment and take as many samples as possible. you cant really beat that analogue sound for distortion. Same with EQing although one of the best ive heard in the digital realm are massenburg and the sony oxford, but to be fair i havent tested much else.

I saw you mentioned Ohmforce plugins but that site contains a shitload of plugins, which one can your recommend me?

How long have you been a Dj?  And how long have you been a producer?  And does playing out on a gig satisfy you more then sitting at home producing?

Hi mate,
yeah my personal favorites are the Predatohm distortion plugin, the OhmBoyz Delay and the Hematohm which is also a delay but pitch shifts as well and has this strange granular sound which is great.

Ive been Djing for about 11-12 years... long enough lol... been making tunes since I was 13 so about 15 years for producing... started on my old amiga, a cracked copy of octamed and a shed load of rave samples...
as for what gives most satisfaction... hmm its tricky... seeing people lose it to your tunes is a pretty amazing feeling... but if i had to pick one or the other i would pick producing over djing, making music helps keep me sane... but i love djing too, and hopefully wont ever have to make that choice.

how do you typically go about creating your basslines? do you start with a synth and go from there, or use pre-made samples more often?

It varies to be honest... as ive built up quite a collection of samples over the years... alot of sounds that ive made and have been processed.
So it depends on the tune im making and the sound im after... if everything thats in the tune is sample based in the first place then i would go for a sampled bass most of the time... but if i was after a more natural sound i would go for a synth.
but its all about what fits, I do tend to layer my bass sounds with a sub to get it sounding thicker... rather than try and boost a sound that has character and little sub.

Hey Lethal.

First of all I would like to thank you for answering all our questions mate.... OFFKEY CREW RULEZ!

Well, I do have tons of questions ... but the main thing is over my mind...

-Do you mostly use samples and work on them with some vst or so...or do you Synth sequences to find the sound your looking for.
