hey guys. the kings of the warehouse is on the way, i really think this ep is quite a milestone, certainly highly anticipated for me as a connoisseur of drum and bass and techno.
a few questions for you both:
1. how much do you think you're schooling and work in pro studios helped your production today?
2. as minimal techno really began emerging, i could have never foreseen how much of an impact it made on the techno scene as a whole. i quite enjoy both, but for peak hour stuff i'm still drawn to faster/more driving sounds. how has minimal techno influenced the both of you over the years?
3. great production begins with quality samples...can you recommend any sample cds or packs you both enjoy? (doesn't have to be specific, can be manufacturer recommendations)
4. what do you most want to hear from new producers? and a follow up, when you think back to before you both had your first releases what were your biggest production challenges?
thanks alot for taking the time, and although i may not catch you guys live in the US very soon, i look forward to hearing what's in store...

For sure it helps in some areas but when you are working on really filthy lines and mashing sounds up you can find that you have to brake all the rules that you know to make it work …

Im not that keen on minimal if im honest its doesn’t move me anyway .. Its ok in the background at a bar or at home when I want to sleep.. And as the scene moves forward it starts to sound less minimal and more like old techno which is nice hehe

I quite like minimal as long as its interesting and has a vibe, I'm more a fan of the earily ninties detriot stuff. Minimal and trippy :-) Alot of the newer minimal stuff is abit pinkly plonk for me.

Hollywood edge are always great, always try to source something alittle obscure, and leftfield. Although alot of techno style productions comes down to good programing as much if not more than your sample choices.

For me its about originality more than production because production can be worked on.Many demo’s come in that sound to much like they are trying to sound like another producer, but once in the while something comes in that blows you away. I think you look for something that can influence you, like an artist that you can be a fan of.
When we were sending out demos it was much harder, there was no interent just going up to artists in clubs and handing out cds etc. I must have given out 1000's of cd in my the time, thats alot of beer matts. Less new artists appeared back then too so when a label signed you it was really the start of something big, its not so much like this nowadays.
