All good, just been busy. on some good stuff I might add, all will be revealed soon....anyway.....

The main thing for separation is frequency distribution accross the panorama (left, center, and right), and making sure each side holds the same wieght to keep the mix sounding balanced (High, Mid and Low). The common frequencies should be on each side of the panaroma.

When starting a mix always have a good plan for panaroma and stereo width in advance. Panaroma does an even better job at keeping things apart than eq, so pan everything before you apply eq.

Also Eq and Reverb can place thing in front or behind in a mix.

Also you should see a mix in 3 dimensions:

Dimension 1/ Horizontal: Panaroma - Panning, Widening the sound

Dimension 2/ Vertical: High, Mid, Low - Eq, level and compression

Dimension 3/ Depth: Eq and Delay, Eq of reverb and Delay

Someone had already explained this to me, but your explanation is much more complete!!!! Get your teachers degree and become even more legendary!!! Wink

Before i forget, Always convert your entire project and bounce at 32bit floating point. CPU's use 32bit floating point so no maths or conversion is needed. ie no dithering and 0% distortion at 0db.

This really helps getting that clarity and definition.

Which sound resolution do you work on? 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz?
I never really know which one to pick, as when you're collecting samples you usually end up with a mix of 44.1 and 48 kHz ones... and interpolating them from one to the other worries me about the quality loss Huh
